A weekly roundup of the articles and recipes I’ve bookmarked, pinned or otherwise loved:
Stumptuous has an article from Cassandra Forsythe (co-author of the New Rules of Lifting for Women) about The Benefits of Exercise During Late Pregnancy. We’ve all heard about how working out while pregnant can help prepare you for labor and make it easier to get your body back after birth, but I was surprised to read about all the benefits the baby receives. More exercise = easier, healthier baby? That’s the motivation I need to keep moving in the third trimester!
Ok, I may not be running marathons the way so many fitness bloggers are, but I still like to consider myself a runner. If you’re a runner, too (whether that means you max out at 1 mile or 30), check out Peace Love & Oats’ guest post, A Runners Guide To Cross Training With Dumbbells, which covers the benefits and importance of lifting and cross-training.
Ever since starting her Baby Bells pregnancy workout DVD, I’m a big fan of Lauren Brooks and I’m hoping to get more into Kettlebell training after the baby is born. Check out Lauren’s article over at Bodybuilding.com, The Need To Train Like A Man, Especially If You Are A Woman. She discusses the importance of strength-training if you want to change your body, goes over some basic Kettlebell moves and offers a sample Kettlebell training routine.
I’m not the world’s biggest salad fan, but if any recipe has the name ‘Southwest’ in the title, I’m all over it! Budget Bytes posted a recipe for Southwest Salad with Taco Ranch Dressing that I can’t wait to try.

Welcome, I'm Kristen! I'm a 20-something mother of two working to make exercise and healthy eating a simpler and more enjoyable part of life. I love lifting, running, being outdoors and enjoying food in all it's healthy and not-so-healthy forms. I believe that happiness is as essential to 'healthy living' as exercise and vegetables - that's why I never turn down dessert!

I love this idea of a weekly roundup! I never really have the patience to go thru all of the articles people are always “talking” about. BTW, I got your site from The Lean Green Bean.:-) I am a brand spanking new blogger whose only hope is to get things off my own chest and maybe pick up a reader or two. Happy day to you! Headed over to Peace Love & Oats to read the blog you recommended. Thanks!
