Meals and Goals for the Week: October 1st

I never got around to posting last week’s meals and goals, but I ended up going light on the exercise, so I probably wouldn’t have met the goals anyway. Monday I did my Keep It Simple workout A, Tuesday I did a Lindsay Brin 10-min cardio workout and Saturday I finally did my first post-baby run! I logged 2 hard-earned miles (at an admittedly slow pace), which I know is nothing to brag about. But as a novice runner, the farthest distance I’ve ever run (before baby #2) was no more than 2.5 miles, so I’m thrilled that I’m not back at square one after not running...

Workout of the Day: Running and Weights

This morning I did a (very) modified version of NROLFW stage 4 workout A. I didn’t have a full hour or more to devote to lifting, plus I just wasn’t in the mood, but I knew I needed to get back to the weights – it’s been almost a month! So here’s what I did: Sumo squat: 1 set of 10 reps at 50 lbs. Step-up: 1 set of 8 at 70 lbs. Static lunge: 2 sets of 8 at 50 lbs. Incline push-up: 2 sets of 8 Dumbbell one-point row: 2 sets of 8 at 50 lbs.  I wasn’t really planning to run today, but we had the most beautiful weather I’ve seen since early spring....

Back in the Saddle

I’ll admit it’s taken me a few days to get motivated to run again after last week’s frustrating workout, but I finally did it today and it felt great. I’m also over my RunKeeper hate (at least for now). Today I ran 2 miles in 21:30. Yes, I know, it’s painfully slow but it’s an improvement. I’ve been in the 11-minute mile range, and this bumps me up to the 10-minute range. Still, I feel soooo slow. It’s still hot and humid here in south Florida, and today seemed especially brutal. Ok, the title might be a bit of an exaggeration (as an aside, surely you know what that title is a reference to, right?). Frustration.
